Tags & Descriptions Management ​

In Sharp Stock, tags and notes (descriptions) are a logical management system that transcends physical folder structures, serving as the core for achieving efficient retrieval in large-scale resource libraries.

1. Metadata Management Logic ​

Unlike simple filename-based searches, both tags and note information are stored in Sharp Stock's local database and do not depend on changes to original file content.

  • Tags: A multi-dimensional classification system. You can flexibly define them based on project stages (e.g., "Event Resources," "Public Beta"), asset attributes (e.g., "Main Character," "Environment Background"), or acceptance status (e.g., "Pending Review," "Confirmed").
  • Notes (Description): A free-form text recording format. Suitable for recording asset design details, technical specs, copyright notices, or art inspiration sources.

2. Batch Operation Tips ​

Faced with massive assets, manual individual labeling is clearly inefficient. Sharp Stock provides efficient batch processing solutions for you:

Multi-select Batch Management ​

Select target file groups in the Main View Grid (supports selection across folders) and perform operations via the right detail panel:

  • Quick Application: Click an existing tag in the tag pool to apply it to all selected assets simultaneously.
  • One-click Creation: Enter a new tag name and click "Create" to simultaneously establish and associate the new tag for the group of assets.

3. AI-Enhanced Management ​

Steam release

Due to Steam platform review policies, AI auto-tagging and AI auto-description are not available in the Steam build. Microsoft Store and App Store builds are unaffected; watch for future updates.

Sharp Stock supports calling AI models within individual asset details to assist in generating metadata. Click the "Auto" button with the blue AI icon in the detail panel to trigger it.

NOTE

Before using AI features, ensure that the relevant interfaces are configured in [Settings] → [AI Model Configuration]. For more info, see the Metadata System Interface.

4. System Maintenance & Security ​

  • Clean Up Obsolete Tags:
    • Go to [Settings] → [Maintenance & Optimization] → [Clean Tags].
    • The system will automatically retrieve and delete all "orphan tags" not associated with any assets, ensuring the global tag pool remains lean and accurate.
  • Metadata Security Protection:
    • All tag and note data are saved in the local database. We recommend periodically backing up the .db file in the asset library root directory.
    • If physical assets are copied to a device without the same asset library configured, metadata information will not be carried over automatically and must be migrated via database sync or export/import mechanisms.

5. Industry Best Practice Recommendations ​

  1. Establish Unified Standards: A tag naming convention (e.g., using unified prefixes like [Character], [UI]) should be established at the beginning of a project, which will greatly improve later search precision.
  2. Record Iteration Logs: Use the note feature to record asset change details. For example: 2024.05.12 Optimized transitions for Spine actions, which helps team members track resource status.
