Changelog
Sharp Stock is constantly evolving, committed to providing a superior asset management experience for game developers.
v1.8.13
New Features
- Copy assets across apps: Copy assets or folders in Sharp Stock and paste them into File Explorer, Finder, or other apps that accept pasted files. Mixed selections can include images, models, and audio. Sprites provide the original frame files that make up the animation. Cut remains limited to moves within the library.
- Copy image content: Copying one readable static PNG, JPEG, WebP, BMP, or GIF also provides image content for drawing or chat apps that accept pasted images. Multiple selections provide all selected files, without copying only the first image or creating a collage. The receiving app determines how pasted content is handled.
Bug Fixes
- Video conversion thumbnails: Fixed MP4 files created by conversion not receiving automatic thumbnails. Overwriting a file now refreshes the card image and retries thumbnail generation even if it previously failed.
v1.8.10
New Features
- Sharp Stock Clipper Browser Capture: The companion extension lets you import web images and audio directly into your local library from Chrome or Edge using shortcuts, context menus, or the extension panel. Source-page links are saved automatically so you can revisit where assets came from. The Browser Capture page in Settings provides installation links and instructions, with import results shown in both the extension and desktop app.
- Quick Library Switching: Switch directly to a recently opened library from Library Status in Settings, without browsing for its folder again, to move easily between projects. The list shows up to five other libraries; removing a record only removes the shortcut and leaves local files intact.
- Video Conversion and Frame Export: Convert videos to MP4, GIF, or PNG/JPG frame sequences with resolution, frame rate, and time-range controls. Track progress or cancel a task; results are saved as new assets while preserving the source video.
- GIF Compression: A dedicated tool offers resolution, maximum frame rate, palette, and dithering controls, presets, and comparison before saving. Create a new file by default or explicitly choose to overwrite the source GIF.
- Batch Renaming: Combine prefix, suffix, find-and-replace, character removal, numbering, case, and separator rules. Preview names before applying changes while preserving file extensions.
- Batch Image Resizing: Resize multiple images in one operation to reduce repetitive setup and editing.
- Quick Background Removal and Light-Effect Processing: Process single images or batches using color picking, tolerance, feathering, and light-effect algorithms, with live previews and comparison before saving. Light-effect processing is also available when removing backgrounds during automatic splitting.
- More Asset Formats: Added OBJ model previews with companion MTL material loading, plus WOFF and WOFF2 font support.
- Targeted Rescans: Rescan folders or selected assets to update file properties, metadata, and thumbnails without scanning the entire library.
Improvements
- Image Comparison: Unified split, hold-to-view-original, and side-by-side comparisons, with improved color-channel, transparency-background, zoom, and pan controls for inspecting results.
- Menus and Tool Layouts: Reorganized image context menus and refined batch rename, batch resize, and full-window tools. Improved keyboard access and accessibility feedback, and prevented macOS window controls from overlapping dialog content.
Bug Fixes
- Data Synchronization After Moves and Overwrites: Fixed incorrect metadata and thumbnail handling after asset moves, missing thumbnails and errors after importing or moving over an existing file, and batch move conflict failures.
- 3D Model Display: Fixed some thumbnail generation failures and differences between model previews and thumbnails.
- BMP Dimensions: Fixed resolution detection failures and invalid dimension values in the resize tool for some BMP files.
- Library Switching and Search Indexing: Fixed quick library switching getting stuck during validation, and improved coordination between asset operations and visual search indexing.
- Quick Background Removal and Menus: Fixed several batch background removal issues and context menus failing to close when clicking elsewhere.
- Plist Generation and Input Controls: Fixed untranslated Plist errors and incorrect numeric input displays. Dismissing an error now returns to the original generation dialog so you can continue adjusting settings.
v1.7.7
New Features
- Visual Similarity Search: Drop an external or library image into the search box, or use Find Similar from an asset action, to locate visually related content. CoreML acceleration is available on macOS.

- Settings Organization: Third-party license information now has a dedicated Settings tab.
Bug Fixes
- Spine Preview Compatibility: Improved support across Spine versions and fixed previews that appeared too small or off-center.
- Visual Similarity Search: Fixed inaccurate matching for wide or tall images, library images being treated as external files when dropped, and dominant-color details disappearing after a search.
- Video Thumbnails: Fixed some videos producing fully transparent thumbnails.
- Image Comparison and Dialogs: Fixed hover hiding the selected comparison border and Enter reopening the New Folder dialog.
- Asset and Interface Stability: Fixed file-loading errors after deleting assets, app-generated assets missing from the AI search index, and right-sidebar scrollbar alignment.

- SVN and Database Stability: Fixed database access conflicts during SVN Revert.
- Demo and macOS Stability: Fixed incorrect AppData use in Demo editions, macOS DMG builds failing to quit, and selected Demo signing issues.
- AI Matting Feedback: Fixed errors in AI model settings and an incorrect completion message after automatic image splitting.
- Audio Waveform Display: Fixed inconsistent waveform displays for the same audio file across thumbnails, standard previews, and expanded previews.

- Regenerate Thumbnails: Added a "Regenerate Thumbnail" option to the asset context menu to manually update or fix thumbnails.
Improvements
- Scan & Import Optimization: Optimized data generation to produce metadata and thumbnails concurrently during import and startup scans, eliminating lazy-generation lag and runtime conflicts.
- Database Upgrade Scan: Prompted scans after database upgrades now share the same behavior as full scans in the settings menu.
Bug Fixes
- Version Upgrade Recovery: Fixed an issue where running a lower app version against a higher database version triggered errors without redirecting to the main screen.
- SVN Revert DB Errors: Fixed database errors triggered by SVN revert operations after database upgrades.
