Asset Management

In Sharp Stock, the asset management system achieves deep protection of metadata (tags, notes, etc.) through an underlying database while retaining the flexibility of operating system file operations.

1. Core Operation Guide

You can perform basic operations on selected assets in the Main View Grid via the context menu or keyboard shortcuts:

Asset Renaming

  • Operation: Select an asset and press the F2 key.
  • Format Protection: If you attempt to change the file extension (suffix) during renaming, the system will pop up a warning. This is intended to prevent preview failures or engine import errors caused by accidental suffix modification.

Asset Deletion

  • Operation: Select one or more assets and press the Delete key.
  • Data Cleanup Logic: Upon deletion, the system will simultaneously remove the physical disk file, locally cached thumbnails, and all associated metadata in the database, ensuring no redundant data remains in the library.

Calling External Programs

  • Open with Default App: Select "Open with Default App" from the context menu to call the associated program. For example, use Photoshop to open .psd, or the default player for audio.
  • Physical Location: Select "Show in File Explorer" to quickly jump to the physical folder where the file is located for more complex file system operations.

2. Resource Movement and Data Sync

  • Cross-directory Movement:
    • Interaction Logic: Select assets from the grid view and drag them directly to a specified folder node in the left navigation tree.
    • Underlying Sync: While performing the physical disk move, the system automatically updates the relative path in the database. This ensures that assets retain all original metadata like tags, notes, and unique IDs after movement.
  • Reconnect Lost Assets: If an asset is moved outside the software and shows a "Missing" status, you can re-establish the connection using the "Deep Scan" function.

3. Batch Operation Efficiency

  • Select All: Ctrl + A.
  • Continuous Multi-select: Click the first asset, hold the Shift key, and click the last asset.
  • Non-continuous Multi-select: Hold the Ctrl key and click target assets one by one.
