Other Asset Types
Sharp Stock is committed to supporting all mainstream resource formats used in game development. For files that are project-specific, encrypted, or do not yet have a built-in preview engine, the system categorizes them as "Other Asset Types."
1. Definition & Identification Logic
If a file extension does not belong to the system-predefined standard categories like images, audio, video, models, fonts, or Spine (e.g., .dat, .bin, .cfg, or project-specific custom encrypted formats), it will be automatically identified as "Other Type."
2. View Display & Filtering
To ensure the visual purity of the main view grid, the system hides assets without preview capabilities by default.
How to View Such Assets?
- Click the "Filter" icon to the right of the top search bar to open the precision filter panel.
- At the bottom of the panel, check "Show Unknown Assets".
- Once enabled, these files will appear in the grid with a standard universal file icon.
3. Targeted Operation Guide
Even if the system cannot provide real-time previews, you can still include them in the full asset management flow:
- Basic Attribute Review: View file size, creation/modification times, and storage paths in the detail panel.
- Information Labeling & Retrieval: Manually add tags or note descriptions to these files to make them searchable, facilitating team archival management.
- Team Collaboration Support: These assets are also managed by the version control (SVN) module, supporting normal commits, updates, and conflict resolution.
- External App Invocation: Click "Open with Default App" in the detail panel to call associated professional tools for editing or viewing.
4. Common FAQ
- Why are some text files (e.g., .txt, .json) also categorized as "Other"?
- Unless identified as atlas descriptions (Plist) or skeletal animation configs (Spine JSON), the system treats standalone text files as regular non-preview assets to avoid cluttering the grid with non-resource entries.
- Can I request extended preview support?
- If your project uses a common industry format that cannot currently be previewed, we welcome your feedback via the software's built-in feedback channel.
