Folder Management

Folders are the fundamental units for organizing and carrying assets in Sharp Stock. By synchronizing with the physical disk structure in real-time, the system provides you with convenient and efficient directory maintenance tools.

1. Directory Operation Guide

All directory management features can be triggered via the right-click menu of the Left Navigation Tree or the top shortcut buttons.

Right-click Menu Function Demo

New Folder

  • Operation: Select a parent directory and right-click "New Folder," or directly click the [+] button above the navigation tree.
  • Underlying Logic: The system will create a physical directory at the corresponding disk path and synchronize the database index. Since new folders are empty, this operation is instantaneous.

Rename Folder

  • Operation: Select the target folder and press the F2 key, or use the context menu.
  • Data Association Protection: Renaming a directory changes the physical paths of all assets under it. Sharp Stock's core advantage is that it automatically and recursively updates all metadata (tags, notes, etc.) for affected assets, ensuring that asset information is not lost after a name change.

Delete Folder

  • Operation: Select a folder and press the Delete key.
  • Special Reminder: This is a "physical deletion" operation that recursively removes the folder and all resources it contains from the disk. Please confirm that necessary backups have been made before executing.

External Physical Location

  • Operation: Select a folder and choose "Open in File Explorer."
  • Description: This feature quickly brings up Windows File Explorer or macOS Finder and locates the target path, allowing you to perform advanced operations like backups or external reorganization.

2. Hierarchy Adjustment (Drag & Drop)

Adjusting the organization hierarchy of assets within Sharp Stock is very intuitive:

  • Interaction: In the navigation tree area, left-click and hold a folder, then drag it to a target parent node and release.
  • Operation Constraints:
    • A folder cannot be moved into its own subdirectory.
    • A folder cannot be moved into its current parent directory.
  • Synchronized Update: Once the move is complete, the system automatically refreshes the relative path index of affected assets to ensure that previews and metadata associations remain normal.
