Fonts

Managing hundreds of fonts (TTF, OTF, TTC) in large projects often presents the problem of "hard to identify style just by filename." Sharp Stock provides a powerful font preview module that allows you to directly view real typesetting and rendering effects without installing font files on your system.

Font Asset Preview

1. Supported Font Standards

  • TTF (TrueType Font): The most common universal font format.
  • OTF (OpenType Font): A font format supporting more advanced typographic features.
  • TTC (TrueType Collection): Supports previewing the first subset within a font collection.

2. Preview Interaction Experience

When you select a font asset in the grid view, the right detail panel will provide an immersive preview viewport:

  • Instant Dynamic Rendering: The system temporarily loads the font file into a sandbox environment and performs high-definition rendering.
  • Multi-dimensional Character Set Display:
    • Standard Character Samples: Fully displays basic letterforms for A-Z, a-z, and 0-9.
    • Chinese Typesetting Examples: Provides typesetting previews for common Chinese characters, making it easy for artists to review font styles.
  • Custom Preview: You can view the font's visual performance across different sizes and layouts within the preview area.

3. Basic Attribute Parsing

  • File Specs: The system automatically extracts and displays the physical size of the font file.
  • Metadata Sync: You can tag or add notes to fonts for quick location via keywords like "Chinese font" or "Pixel style" during searches.

4. Organization & Management Suggestions

  • Functional Tag Labeling: We highly recommend using the tagging system to mark specific usage scenarios for fonts, such as [Title Art Font], [UI System Body], or [Level Prompt Font].
  • Version Comparison: If a project involves subtle revisions of multiple fonts, you can quickly compare glyph differences through the preview area.

5. Common Troubleshooting

  • Why can't some fonts be previewed?
    • Ensure the font file is not corrupted. Some fonts with strong copyright protection or extremely old formats may not be parseable in cross-platform preview environments.
  • Is Bitmap Font (fnt) supported?
    • Current previews are mainly for vector fonts. For Bitmap Font preview, we recommend viewing the corresponding large textures in the Atlas Management module.
